Illusionists are magical beings that have the ability to create vivid imagery or sensations in others. In the distant past, leaders used illusionists to torture prisoners. The consequences of this were twofold:
- They bred out the illusionists who generated good illusions, leaving only illusionists who made bad illusions.
- Illusionists went into hiding.
Illusionists gain strength and healing power from creating illusions. They can be controlled with copper bands that restrict their powers. These bands can also be worn by non-Illusionists to protect them from illusions.
Grace Matthews is the only person who is affected by her own illusions. Ana Matthews was the only person who could produce good illusions.
